Arthur J. "A.J." Miller, son of the late Sereno W. and Catherine Halter Miller, was born in New Hamburg, Missouri on February 29, 1928, and passed away at the Lutheran Home in Cape Girardeau on July 5, 2012, at the age of 84 years, 4 months and 6 days.
He had grown up in Chaffee, Missouri and had lived in California, Washington State and Chicago, Illinois before moving to Bloomfield, Missouri twelve years ago. He had worked as an electrical technician with Motorola. He was a member of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Dexter, Missouri. He enjoyed racing remote control boats, fishing and model trains. He served in the U. S. Army, stationed in Italy after WWII, and served in Korea.
In October of 1970, he was married to Helen Fox in Chicago, Illinois. She preceded him in death on February 22, 2010.
Surviving are two stepsons, Michael Lee Hasler of San Antonio, Texas, Kenneth Lynn Hasler of Oswego, Illinois; one stepdaughter, Linda Handel of Hendersonville, North Carolina; four step grandchildren; five step great grandchildren; one brother, James Miller of Seattle, Washington; one sister, Betty Enderle of Kelso, Missouri. Other family and friends also survive. He was preceded in death by one brother, Leon W. Miller.
Visitation will be held on Sunday, July 8, 2012, from 1:00 to 4:00 p.m. at Watkins and Sons Funeral Home in Dexter, Missouri. A Rosary Service will be held at 2:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
Funeral Mass will be held at 9:30 a.m. on Monday, July 9, 2012, at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Dexter, Missouri with the Rev. David Dohogne of Dexter, Missouri officiating.
Interment will follow at the Missouri Veteran's Cemetery in Bloomfield, Missouri with Watkins & Sons Funeral Service of Dexter in charge of arrangements.
