Anna Laura Vails, daughter of the late David and Lydia Newman Cox, was born in Corinth, Mississippi on May 27, 1922, and passed away at Missouri Southern Healthcare in Dexter, Missouri on August 23, 2007, at the age of 85 years, 2 months and 27 days.
Mrs. Vails had lived in the Essex and Dexter area all her life and had lived in Dexter since 1986. She attended the Vinson General Baptist Church near Essex, Missouri.
On February 24, 1940 she was married to Harley E. Vails, Sr. He preceded her in death on October 17, 2002.
Surviving are five daughers, B. J. Vails of Cape Girardeau, Missouri, Peggy Rehkop of St. Charles, Missouri, Shirley Blair of Columbia, Missouri, Kemberly Neppl of Naperville, Illinois, Sheila Vails of Dexter, Missouri; three sons, Darrell Vails of Jackson, Tennessee, Junior Vails of Dexter, Missouri, Michael Vails of Morehouse, Missouri; eleven grandchildren; seventeen great grandchildren; two brothers, Fred Cox of Danville, Virginia and Travis Cox of Sikeston, Missouri. Other relatives and many friends also survive. She was preceded in death by five brothers, Thurman, David, James, Howard and Truman Cox.
Friends may call on Saturday August 25, 2007, from 6:00 to 8:00 PM at the Watkins & Sons Funeral Home in Dexter, Missouri.
Funeral services will be held on Sunday August 26, 2007, at 2:00 PM at the Watkins & Sons Chapel in Dexter, Missouri with the Rev. Doyle Corlew of Dexter officiating.
Interment will follow in the Dexter Cemetery in Dexter, Missouri with Watkins & Sons Funeral Service of Dexter, Missouri in charge of arrangements.
