Amos J. Kennedy, son of the late Tony and Ina Weible Kennedy, was born in Fayetteville, Arkansas on May 2, 1930, and passed away at the Crowley Ridge Care Center in Dexter, Missouri on August 16, 2009, at the age of 79 years, 3 months and 14 days.
Mr. Kennedy had lived in Dexter since 1957. He was a member of the Sadler's Chapel Methodist Church near Dexter and was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force.
On June 1, 1950, he was married to Sylva Shirley Camp in Roswell, New Mexico.
Surviving are his wife, Shirley Kennedy of Dexter, Missouri; two daughters, Patricia Sharp of St. Peters, Missouri, Melanie Shake of Dexter, Missouri; three sons, Michael and Ben Kennedy both of Little Rock, Arkansas; Terry Kennedy of Puxico, Missouri; five grandchildren; seven great grandchildren; one brother, Claude Kennedy of Van Buren, Missouri; and one sister, Lois Smee of Jackson, Missouri. Other relatives and friends also survive. He was preceded in death by one brother, Bob Kennedy.
Friends may call on Wednesday, August 19, 2009, after 11:00 AM at the Watkins & Sons Funeral Home in Dexter, Missouri.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, August 19, 2009, at 1:00 PM at the Watkins & Sons Chapel in Dexter, Missouri with the Rev. Rick Patterson of Kentucky and Rev. Any Lambel of Bell City, Missouri officiating.
Interment will be in the Missouri Veteran's Cemetery in Bloomfield, Missouri with Watkins & Sons Funeral Service of Dexter, Missouri in charge of arrangements.
