Alvin "Al" Hunsaker, son of the late Newton Hunsaker and Anna Dublin Hunsaker Kimbrel, was born in Caruth, Missouri on September 27 , 1928, and passed away at the Mercy Hospital in Springfield, Missouri on June 21, 2013, at the age of 84 years, 8 months and 24 days.
He was raised in Southeast Missouri and had lived Pontiac, Michigan until he retired and then moved to Jackson, Missouri before moving to Battlefield, Missouri two years ago. He had worked at General Motors as a line supervisor for many years and attended the Battlefield First Baptist Church in Battlefield, Missouri.
On June 14, 1947, he was married to Lorene Wyatt in Piggott, Arkansas.
Surviving are his wife, Lorene Hunsaker of Battlefield, Missouri; three daughters, Judy Surridge of Seneca, Missouri, Janet Mallett of Rochester Hills, Michigan, and Deborah Hunsaker of Battlefield, Missouri; one granddaughter, Jill Bowman of Neosho, Missouri; three great grandchildren; three brothers, Bill Hunsaker of Springfield, Missouri, Gene Hunsaker of Dexter, and Jerry Hunsaker of Walnut Grove, Missouri; four sisters, Virginia Sherfield of Dexter, Linda Christian of Fordland, Missouri, Glenda Fowler of Wixom, Michigan, and Pansy Gianacakos of Springfield, Missouri. Other relatives and friends also survive. He was preceded in death by two daughters, Sharon Kay and Paula Kay Hunsaker, one son, Gary Lee Hunsaker, five brothers, John David, James, Burl, Ralph and George Newton Hunsaker.
Visitation will be Wednesday, June 26, 2013, after 11:00 a.m. at the Risen Church in Dexter, Missouri.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, June 26, 2013, at 12:00 p.m. at the Risen Church in Dexter, Missouri with the Rev. Steve Tippen of Bloomfield, Missouri officiating.
Interment will be in the Dexter Cemetery in Dexter, Missouri with Watkins & Sons Funeral Service of Dexter in charge of arrangements.
