Alvin Faries, the son of the late Ishmael B. and Maggie Pearl Knodell Faries was born in Mingo, Missouri on March 19, 1919, and went to be with Jesus at the Poplar Bluff Regional Medical Center in Poplar Bluff, Missouri on August 6, 2008, at the age of 89 years, 4 months and 18 days. Mr. Faries had lived in the Puxico area all his life. He was a member of the New Life Baptist Church in Wappapello, Missouri. He was a 1937 graduate of Puxico High School, a former member of the Puxico School Board, an honorary member of the FFA and enjoyed fishing. On December 18, 1940, he was married to Lavada Pearl Crunk in Poplar Bluff, Missouri. She preceded him in death on April 8, 2006. Surviving are two sons, Bill Faries of Puxico, Missouri, Ron and Vonnie Faries of Broseley, Missouri; one daughter, Pat and Eddie Dunivan of Puxico, Missouri; daughter in law, Brenda Lingafelter of Salem, Illinois; nine grandchildren, Judy McAllister, Rhonda Acre, Terri Worley, Paula Hefner, Brad Faries, Clay Faries, Danny Dunivan, Joe Dunivan, and Amanda Hanes; thirteen great grandchildren; and one brother, Royal Faries of Arnold, Missouri. Other relatives and friends also survive. In addition to his parents and wife he was preceded in death by one son, Randy Faries; two daughters-in-law, Janice and Candy. Friends may call after 6:00 PM on Thursday, August 7, 2008, at the Watkins & Sons Funeral Home in Puxico, Missouri. Funeral services will be held on Friday, August 8, 2008, at 11:00 AM at the Watkins & Sons Chapel in Puxico, Missouri with the Dr. Danny Dunivan of Oakland City, Indiana officiating. Interment will be in the Puxico Cemetery in Puxico, Missouri with Watkins and Sons Funeral Home of Puxico, Missouri in charge of arrangements.
