Mae Ida Whittaker, the daughter of the late Leonard "Man" and Ollie Mae Jones Getter, was born in Marvell, Arkansas on March 10, 1940, and passed away at her home in Essex, Missouri on November 3, 2005, at the age of 65 years, 7 months and 24 days. She had lived in the Essex, Missouri area for the past 49 years. She had attended the Mt. Zion Baptist Church in Grayridge, Missouri under the fellowship of G. W. Harris of Sikeston, Missouri. She had worked and retired from Tyson Foods after working there for 35 years. Surviving are two daughters, Kirtina (Paul) Johnson of Sikeston, Missouri, Susan Green of Gardner, Kansas; two sons, Ted (Melissa) Whittaker and Warren Whittaker both of Essex, Missouri; four brothers, Robert (Earnestine) Jones and Billy Joe Getter both of Malden, Missouri, Jesse James Getter of East St. Louis, Illinois, and Lee Dale Getter of Parma, Missouri, and one sister, Von Getter of Parma, Missouri; thirteen grandchildren, Markel Hill of Warrensburg, Missouri, Donnie Hill, Jr. of Malden, Missouri, Kerenzo Hill of St. Louis, Missouri, Kenzo Hill and Keenan Mosby both of Gardner, Kansas, Cameron Whittaker, Hakeem Whittaker, Lomas Johnson, and Jamal Johnson all of Sikeston, Missouri, Malcolm Whittaker, Richard, Mikey and Amy Whitney all of Essex, Missouri, five great grandchildren, Keyania Hill, Raven Hill, Jalen Hill, Kaniqua Hill, and VonTasja Sherrod, a special friend, Elmer Sanders of Essex, Missouri. Also a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends also survive. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her grandmother, Mary Jones, aunt Ida Mae Johnson, nephew Orlando Jones, and great nephew Cavasia "Red" Jones. Friends may call from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM on Saturday, November 12, 2005, at the Watkins & Sons Funeral Home in Dexter, Missouri. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 PM on Saturday, November 12, 2005, at the Watkins & Sons Chapel in Dexter with the Rev. Moses Grayson of Essex, Missouri officiating. Interment will follow in the Macedonia Cemetery in Malden, Missouri with Watkins & Sons Funeral Service of Dexter, Missouri in charge of arrangements.
