George Louis Whitaker, the son of the late Hyarm and Pearl Moore Whitaker was born in Risco, Missouri on August 15, 1928, and passed away at the Southeast Missouri Hospital in Cape Girardeau, Missouri on October 27, 2005, at the age of 77 years, 2 months and 12 Days. Mr. Whitaker had been a resident of Wappapello, Missouri for more that fifteen years. He was retired from General Motors. Mr. Whitaker was in the U. S. Army was a decorated veteran of World War II. In August of 1952 he was married to Marjorie Baucum. She preceded him in death on September 12, 1967. Surviving are three daughters: Teresa Dickerson of Coker, Alabama, Debrah Schaffer of Denver, Colorado and Jody Hill of Imperial, Missouri, seven grandchildren: Gary E. Dickerson, Jr., Waylon L. Dickerson, Sr., Shani B. Farley, Jacqueline N. Edwards, Lisa E. Schaffer, Marjorie J. Whitaker and Jeromey Goad, eight great-grandchildren: Joshua L. Dickerson, Tabetha D. Dickerson, Dalton Farley, Keaton Farley, Waylon Dickerson, Jr., Adaya J. Stroder, Cameron Edwards and Teressa Edwards. He is also survived by two brothers: Luther Whitaker of Dexter, Missouri and Winford Whitaker of Dudley, Missouri, four sisters: Helen Reed of Doniphan, Missouri, Blythe Lawrence of Weir, Kansas, Mary Dugger of Dudley, Missouri and Darlene Parks of Dudley, Missouri. Surviving of the home in Wappapello, Missouri is Norma Hart. Other loving relatives and friends also survive. Friends may call at the Watkins & Sons Funeral Home in Dexter on Sunday, October 30, 2005 from 5:00 to 8:00 PM. Funeral services will be held on Monday, October 31, 2005 at 12 Noon in the Watkins and Sons Funeral Chapel in Dexter, Missouri with Rev. Kevin Chenoweth of Dexter, Missouri officiating. Interment will follow in the Memorial Park Cemetery in Malden, Missouri with Watkins & Sons Funeral Service of Dexter, Missouri in charge of arrangements.
