Joseph Elvin Adkins Joseph Elvin Adkins, the son of the late Milem T. and Sarah Jane Anderson Adkins, was born in Panama, Oklahoma on November 3, 1921, and passed away at the Missouri Delta Medical Center in Sikeston, Missouri on July 21, 2005, at the age of 83 years, 8 months and 18 days. Mr. Adkins had been a resident of Morehouse, Missouri since 1923 and was a retired farmer. He served in the US Army Air Corps during World War II. On November 20, 1942, he was married to Esther Jewell McGuirt in Gray Ridge, Missouri. She preceded him in death on July 28, 2002. Surviving are one son and daughter-in-law: Dennis and Polly Adkins of Portageville, Missouri, one daughter and son-in-law: Linda and Freddie Copeland of Lilbourn, Missouri, 3 grandchildren, 5 great grandchildren, One sister: Opal Jackson of Norco, California and Several nieces and nephews. Other relatives and friends also survive. He was preceded in death by one brother Verlin Adkins Friends may call from 5:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. on Sunday, July 24, 2005, at the Watkins & Sons Funeral Home in Morehouse, Missouri. Funeral Services will be held on Monday, July 25, 2005, at 10:00 A.M. in the Watkins & Sons Chapel in Morehouse, Missouri with Rev. Bryan Smith of New Madrid, Missouri officiating. Interment will follow in the Memorial Park Cemetery in Sikeston, Missouri with Watkins and Sons Funeral Service of Morehouse, Missouri in charge of arrangements.
