Beulah Cookson, daughter of the late William Sherman and Carrie Rister Klaffer, was born in Ridgeway, Illinois on June 7, 1912, and passed away at the Puxico Nursing Center in Puxico, Missouri on August 1, 2010, at the age of 98 years, 1 months and 25 days. She had lived most of her life in Puxico, Missouri. She was a member of the Life Chapel Assembly of God Church in Puxico, Missouri. She had been a Sunday School teacher and other church activities including the quilting group. She enjoyed gardening and sewing. On April 4, 1931, she was married to James Otto Cookson in Dudley, Missouri. He preceded her in death on September 17, 1992. Surviving are two sons and spouses, Leon & Jewell Cookson of Puxico, Missouri, James & Bonnie Cookson of Springfield, Missouri; two daughters and spouses, Shirley & Harold "Frosty" Martin of St. Charles, Missouri, Linda & Larry Anthony of O'Fallon, Missouri; eleven grandchildren, Steve, Stan, Jimmy, Jami, Tyler and Larissa Cookson, Marty, Kevin & Jeff Martin, Jennifer and Todd Anthony; fourteen great grandchildren; one sister, Eva Lois Cookson of Puxico, Missouri. Other relatives and friends survive. She was preceded in death by two children in infancy, Donald Eugene and Janice Kay Cookson; and son Kermit Cookson. Visitation will be Tuesday, August 3, 2010, from 6:00 to 8:00 PM at the Watkins & Sons Funeral Home in Puxico, Missouri. Services will be held Wednesday, August 4, 2010, at 2:00 PM in the Watkins & Sons Chapel in Puxico with the Rev. Ray Placher of Puxico, Missouri and the Rev. James Cookson of Springfield, Missouri officiating. Interment will be in the Brown Cemetery near Puxico, Missouri with Watkins & Sons Funeral Service of Puxico in charge of arrangements.
