Eugene Arthur "Art" Broadhurst Eugene Arthur "Art" Broadhurst, the son of the late James Henry and Mildred F. Herron Broadhurst, was born in Pittsburg, Kansas on December 18, 1911, and passed away at the Missouri Southern Healthcare Facility in Dexter, Missouri on April 19, 2005, at the age of 93 years, 4 months and 1 day. Mr. Broadhurt had been a resident of St. Louis, Missouri for many years before moving to Dexter in 1991. He had owned and operated the Berkley Lumber Company in Berkley, Missouri before his retirement. He was affiliated with the Catholic Church and was a member of the Dexter Elks Lodge, Dexter Eagles Aerie, and the American Legion. He had served in the U.S. Army during WWII. On March 23, 1943, he was married to Helen Marie Coosman in St. Charles County, Missouri. She preceded him in death in August of 1974. Also preceding him in death was a son: James Anthony Broadhurst, one sister: Gretchen Fann, and one brother: Charles Broadhurst. Surviving are four sisters: Verna Lindsey and Charlene Beamer both of Sacramento, California, Florence McIntire of Ozark, Missouri, Lucille Kennedy of St. Louis, Missouri, one brother: Jim Broadhurst of Walnut Grove, California, and a special friend and care giver for several years: Thelma Foutch of Dexter, Missouri. Other relatives and friends also survive. Friends may call at the Watkins & Sons Funeral Home in Dexter on Friday, April 22, 2005, from 5:00 to 8:00 PM. Friends may also call at the Hutchens Mortuary in Florissant, Missouri on Saturday, April 23, 2005, from 5:00 to 7:00 PM. Interment will be in the Lake Charles Memorial Park Cemetery in St. Louis, Missouri at a later date with Watkins & Sons Funeral Service of Dexter, Missouri in charge of arrangements.
